It has been a few years since the popularity of men being metro-sexual has passed and there are a few subtle changes in the behavior of these men. At one time a metro-sexual would have ample beautifying products, obviously was well kept and was immaculately dressed, and very little has changed for this demographic of young male professionals. However, they purchase a few less beautifying products, and there is less focus on their metro-sexuality, and they are now considered just well kept men. What has caused the transfer from Metro-Sexual Male to Smart Guy?
The same is true for wrinkle creams. Men began using wrinkle creams, by trying their girlfriends or their wives in the bathroom. But soon enough, wrinkle creams designed for men came out and men jumped on that bandwagon as well, where as nowadays, they account for over 50% of all wrinkle cream sales across the nation. But this combination of men using wrinkle cream and products like body washes growing so popular within the male population led to the disappearance of Metro-Sexual Males.
It is not that the behavior of the men that were once considered metro-sexual has changed, it is that the average consumers has entered into the realm of using products that were once considered metro-sexual. That process grays the lines of definition of these product junkies, focused on looking their best. Once it becomes a bit more difficult to identify what is a normal guys behavior, and what is metro-sexual the stigma of metro-sexual begins to fade.
The reality is that there is nothing wrong with a man taking care of himself, no matter what the archaic men in the room might say. Being clean and well kept demonstrates much more about the type of person that you are, especially in the corporate world. Like it or not, we are judged by our appearance every day and if looking good gets you a few extra opportunities why not look your best? Most men are now using products like body wash and maybe even wrinkle cream, but all men have changed the type of razors they use to one with more blades, and that too is a sign of taking care of themselves. True, there are different degree to which men go to keep themselves looking good, but those degrees continue to fade every day. If 50% of all purchases of wrinkle cream belong to men, think about where that number will be in just a few short years. It has risen from relative scarcity to over 50% in the last 5 years, there is no telling how many men will be using wrinkles creams 5 years from today. Guys, you skin needs help as do most aspects of our bodies, after the life we have put ourselves through, do not get caught up in the metro-sexual nonsense. Be a smart guy and start taking care of things like your skin before the damage leads to much more severe issues.
